Domestic students starting in Trimester 2, 2026 are invited to attend the New Student Briefing. This session will provide important information about your course and what to expect when studying at the Sydney Business School, University of Wollongong.
This is an important online session designed to set you up for success from the very beginning of your studies.
You’ll also have the opportunity to attend additional online workshops focused on building your Excel and data analysis skills, key skills used across many business subjects.

Session/Time:
- Introduction to Excel (9.30 am - 11 am)
This workshop in the Excel seminar series, introduces beginner users to MS Excel. Users will learn how to input data, perform basic operations and how to use some basic inbuilt functions. This work will be performed in the context of a casual worker who is tracking their weekly and annual income, calculating taxation, determining tax debt/refund and tracking living expenses. Students will learn some basic visualisation techniques.
- Basic Data Analysis in Excel (11.30 am - 1 pm)
This workshop in the Excel seminar series will explore how MS Excel can be used to collect, organise, visualise and analyse data. At the end of this workshop, students will be able to use MS Excel to calculate central value of tendency and dispersion and identify outliers. Students will learn how to create box and whisker plots as a means of visualising and characterising the spread of a data set. This workshop will give students the tools required to analyse and evaluate data.
