Session/Time:

  1. Introduction to Excel (8.30 am - 9.45 am)
    This first workshop in the Excel seminar series, introduces beginner users to MS Excel. Users will learn how to input data, perform basic operations and how to use some basic in-built functions. This work will be performed in the context of an casual worker who is tracking their weekly and annual income, calculating taxation, determining tax debt/refund and tracking living expenses. Students will learn some basic visualisation techniques.
  2. Basic Financial Math in Excel (10 am - 11.15 am)
    This second workshop in the Excel seminar series introduces beginner users with a background in financial mathematics to more financially based in-built functions. Students will solve problems related to reducible balance loans using brute force technique and then validating their results using a more refined approach based upon the advanced features offered by MS Excel.
  3. Break-even Analysis in Excel (2 pm - 3.15 pm)
    This third workshop in the Excel seminar series will explore how MS Excel can be used to investigate the breakeven point between cost and revenue. This seminar will explore how MS excel can be used to analyse and visualise linear equations and solve simultaneous equations. This workshop aims to provide students with the skills to better understand how to determine profit/loss and optimise variables (unit cost etc) to achieve a desired result.
